Gunbarrel welcomed a new brewery to their growing list: the Gunbarrel Brewing Company (easy to remember, huh?).
For those of you new or unfamiliar with the Boulder area, Gunbarrel is a “census-designated” place in Boulder, County. It’s considered part of Boulder, but it’s an area north of Boulder proper.
Husband and wife duo, Jamie and Marie Fox, opened Gunbarrel Brewing Company earlier this summer after much anticipation in the community. Many Gunbarrel locals (including myself, AKA ‘tour guide’ Meagan) followed along the growing brewery via social media, making for an exciting first visit.
The Brewery & Taproom
Unlike many of the other brewery taprooms in and around Boulder, Gunbarrel Brewing Company has a whole lotta space. We’re talking 20,000 square-feet of brewery + taproom space, in addition to a large outdoor seating area.
If you walk around towards the back of the taproom, you can peak behind the bar and see their beer mural (this area is now occupied by different games + things to do).
The Beer
Okay, now let’s talk what’s really important here — their beer.
Jamie, the brewer, has been brewing beer for over 15 years — and his beer is good.
Jamie brews a wide selection of beers — everything from an easy afternoon drinking to a bold lactose IPA to an Australian Sparkling Ale, the only commercial example of the style brewed in the United States.
According to their website, they “craft innovative beers expressing an extensive range of flavors that are delicate, funky or bold, inspired by ancient and modern styles.”
When we visited, they had a boysenberry tart beer (as opposed to a sour beer), named the Alice. You’ll find this, and other unique brews rotating on their menu.
You can see a full beer list here, or, you can go visit their taproom….right now. 🙂
Food Trucks, Events and a….Photobooth
This spot is a casual afternoon/weekend beer drinker’s HEAVEN.
Everyday, Gunbarrel Brewing Company welcomes a different food truck (sometimes a different one for lunch and dinner), which parks right outside the taproom. You can find an updated list of rotating food trucks on their website and Facebook page.
Events are also a common occurrence in their large taproom — everything from Geeks Who Drink Trivia (on Wednesdays) to livestreams of PHISH The Baker’s Dozen.
Lastly, and this may be the best part — they have a free photobooth and old school video games. So grab that ice cold brew and head into the photobooth to take ridiculous photos of you and your friends having a blast, or bust out your Frogger skills.
Wait, there’s more
In addition to beer, food trucks, events and a photobooth, Gunbarrel Brewing Company also has a wide selection of non-alocholic drinks (kombucha, cold brew coffee and more), as well as snacks.
They open at 11am each day, and encourage people to come hang out, work using their free wifi, and eat lunch.
And who can really resist a cold brew while typing away at emails on a Friday afternoon? That’s right…no one.
